White Heat comes to the Jamfactory

Don Dunstan paved the way for many creative individuals and organisations in the 1970s during his time as Premier of South Australia. Growing up in Adelaide, I remember visiting the original Jamfactory premises as a child and being inspired and amazed at the artists at work and demonstrations of wheel thrown ceramics.

The Jamfactory legacy lives on as THE craft and design hub in Adelaide, and we are thrilled to be included in the Jamfactory's Exhibition Program for 2014! Glass aficionado - Nick Mount will uncover his latest solo exhibition in Gallery I and White Heat in Gallery II.

Exhibition open from Friday 11 July to Sunday 14 September 2014.

Please joins us for the opening night on Thursday 10 July 6pm - 8pm.

Artists Deirdre Hoban and Sarah Hudson will be in attendance on the opening night, pop in and say hello.

Hope to see you there!

White Heat exhibition catalogues - hot off the press!

Thank you to the team at Blue Melon Design for a lovely, clean, fresh design for our exhibition catalogue! Communicating the feel of the exhibition beautifully and showing off our talented artists' work in the very best light. So happy with Joshua Morris' photos featuring our beloved model Chardae Jorgensen wearing the amazing exhibition work, creating a fantastic contrast to the white, light and delicate artworks. The environmentally friendly paper stock has a wonderful tactile feel too.

Huge thanks also go to Jane Hunterland for editing the catalogue essay and Liz & Helen for final proofing.

Catalogue will be available in each venue for $3 during the exhibition period.

Can't make it to the galleries? Craft ACT, Jam Factory or Wollongong Gallery?
You can purchase a catalogue online for $4 including postage within Australia in our shop very soon.

In Manon's own words....
I like to think that it's possible to reinvent jewellery, despite the fact that its archetypal forms and motifs haven't fundamentally changed throughout its long history. I view these archetypes as templates that I use for my translations of the jewellery types I work from (for example the beaded necklace). Through the materiality and making processes that different materials offer I generate new interpretations of generic forms. They reveal some of the value and meaning that belies the appearance of ordinary jewellery pieces.

Feature Artist - Katherine Wheeler

I've been a big fan of Katherine Wheelers work since the first time I saw her collaborative project Goldenink with Abby Seymour at Gaffa Gallery a few years ago.

Sea Jelly Neckpiece
Her work is so unique, unlike anything I have seen before which is honestly - very very exciting! Her jewellery and sculpture are made from a wonderful mix of tactile materials and techniques in ghostly whites and creams. Quite a talent!
